Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday said that democracy is not only flourishing but also getting stronger and people are voting for a stable government.
Inaugurating the three-day Rajasthan Investment Summit, the Prime Minister said, “The power of democracy, demography, digital data and distribution are evident in India’s success. In a country as diverse as India, democracy is not only flourishing but also becoming stronger, which in itself is a significant achievement.”
“As long as it remains democratic, India’s philosophy is centered on the welfare of humanity, which is inherent in its character. Today, the people of India are voting for a stable government through their democratic right,” he said.
Rajasthan Governor Haribhau Bagde, Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma, Deputy Chief Minister Diya Kumari and top industrialists including Prem Chand Bairwa, Gautam Adani, Kumar Mangalam Birla, Anand Mahindra, Anil Aggarwal were also present.
Emphasizing the country’s demographic dividend, Modi said, “For many years to come, India will remain one of the youngest countries in the world. With the largest pool of youth, India will also have the most skilled youth. To harness this potential, the government is taking a series of strategic decisions.”
Today, every expert and investor around the world is very optimistic about India, he said, ‘following the mantra of reform-performance-transformation, the country has achieved remarkable growth in all sectors.
Listing his government’s achievements, he said, “In the seven decades since independence, India could become the 11th largest economy in the world. In contrast, in the last 10 years, India has moved from the 10th largest economy to the 5th largest economy. In these 10 years, India has almost doubled the size of its economy.
“Exports have also almost doubled in the last decade. Foreign direct investment has doubled in the last decade compared to the decade before 2014. Additionally, India has increased its infrastructure spending from around Rs 2 trillion to Rs 11 trillion during this time,” he said.
Underscoring the global uncertainty, the Prime Minister said, “You are all familiar with the challenges associated with global supply and value chains. Today, the world needs an economy that remains strong and operates without interruption even in the face of major crises. This requires establishing a broad manufacturing base in India. This is important not only for India but also for the global economy. Accepting this responsibility, India has pledged to become self-sufficient in large-scale production.
Appreciating the Chief Minister, he said, “People of Rajasthan have given an excellent mandate to the responsive and reformist BJP government here. In a very short period of time, Bhajanlal ji and his entire team have demonstrated remarkable results.
“The state government is also about to complete its first year soon. The efficiency and commitment with which Bhajanlal ji is working for the rapid development of Rajasthan is truly admirable,” Modi said. “Whether it is the welfare of the poor, the welfare of farmers, creating new opportunities for the youth, or ensuring roads, electricity and water – all aspects of development in Rajasthan are accelerated. They are moving forward. The readiness of the government to control crime and corruption has brought new enthusiasm to citizens and investors, he said.
The Prime Minister also praised the people of Rajasthan. “In terms of area, Rajasthan is the largest state in India, and the hearts of its people are equally huge. Hard work, honesty, determination to achieve even difficult goals, the spirit of prioritizing the nation above all else, and the motivation to do anything for the country – these qualities are inherent in every particle of Rajasthan’s soil,” he said.

On the occasion, Chief Minister Sharma said that his government had organized the conference in the first year so that all necessary steps could be taken to implement the received investment proposal on time. Stating that the state government is working with the goal of doubling the state’s economy in five years, he mentioned that the capital expenditure in the state’s budget has increased by 65 percent this year and said that this summit is an important step in that direction.
