Farmers Protest Delhi Chalo March Live Updates Today: Punjab Legislative Assembly Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhawan on Monday urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to open channels of communication with farmers and resolve their problems. He issued a statement in the evening accusing the Center of ignoring the real demands of the farmers and instead of addressing their grievances, they let them sleep on the streets. Sandhawan stressed that the Center should take decisive steps to solve the problem without unnecessary delay.
Sarwan Singh Pandher of Kisan Mazdoor Morcha (KMM) announced on Monday that the farmers will not march to Delhi Chalo on Tuesday, keeping in mind the Haryana government’s promise to resolve farmers’ problems through talks. Pandher said that the farmers’ leaders will decide the future course of action this afternoon after considering all the aspects.
What happened so far? Two days ago, the Delhi Chalo Padayatra was postponed after the tear gas attack. As the farmers started their march on Saturday, they were stopped by multi-tiered barricades erected by the Haryana Police. After that, tear gas and water cannons were fired at the farmers to disperse the protestors and five people were injured. About 101 farmers from Kisan Mazdoor Morcha and SKM group are protesting.
