Rabindranath Mahato of JMM has been elected unopposed as Speaker of Jharkhand Legislative Assembly Bharat News

JMM MLA Rabindra Nath Mahato was elected unopposed as the Speaker of the sixth Jharkhand Legislative Assembly on Tuesday.

Chief Minister Hemant Soren proposed Mahato’s name for the post and JMM MLA Mathura Prasad Mahato seconded the proposal during the second four-day session of the Legislative Assembly.

Soren congratulated Rabindranath Mahato on behalf of the ruling coalition for being elected Speaker for the second consecutive term.

Rabindra Nath Mahato retained the Nala Assembly seat on a JMM ticket after defeating BJP’s Madhav Chandra Mahato by a margin of 10,483 votes in the recent assembly elections.

The JMM leader was sworn in as a member of the Jharkhand Assembly along with other MLAs on Monday.

The JMM-led coalition swept to power in Jharkhand for the second consecutive term on November 23, winning 56 seats in the 81-member assembly, while the BJP-led NDA won 24.
