The police have arrested the young man who killed his wife for not giving him money for gambling Mumbai News

Mumbai Police has arrested a man for murdering his wife when she did not give him money for gambling. The accused, identified as Amol Pawar (36), who strangled his wife Rajshree (30) at his own house in Mankhurd and absconded, was arrested by the Trombay police from Chennai.

An official said that Pawar frequently demanded money from his wife for drinking and gambling which led to arguments between them. Pawar’s son has alleged that Rajshree also beat him when he did not give money. On November 29, the two argued again over the matter, after which Pawar allegedly strangled her and fled.

When the son returned home, he found the mother in an unconscious state. He was taken to the hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead.

After it was confirmed that he died by strangulation based on the post-mortem report, the local police took the son’s statement and registered a case of murder against Pawar.

An official said that Pawar boarded trains and traveled to different places across the country without using a mobile phone, which made it difficult to track him.

In the investigation, it is revealed that he traveled through Thane, Navi Mumbai and Uttar Pradesh. On December 1, the police tracked him down in Delhi, but Pawar managed to escape before he could be apprehended.

However, eventually Pawar approached a relative for financial help before leaving for Chennai, and the police traced his activities. He was finally arrested on December 6 in Chennai. An official said he has no prior criminal record. The accused was brought to the metropolis on November 7. He was produced in court and kept in police custody.
