The National Investigation Agency has filed a chargesheet naming 10 members of the CPI (Maoist), including three arrested underground workers, in connection with the Badegobra blast during the 2023 assembly elections in Chhattisgarh, officials said on Wednesday.
CPI (Maoist) Mohan Yadav, Bhupendra Dhruva and Lakhanlal Yadav, all seven cadres of the banned outfit, including alleged underground workers (OGWs), were booked under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, the Explosive Substances Act, and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act. A charge sheet has been filed under Sec. ) Act, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) said in a statement.
On November 17, 2023, a blast triggered by an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) at Badegobara village in Gariaband district, when a polling team with security forces was returning after completing the polling process for the Assembly elections.
A head constable of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) died of critical injuries in the blast.
“Investigations have revealed that CPI (Maoist) central committee members Ganesh Uike and Manoj along with special regional committee member Satyam Gawde planned the attack on the boycott call given by the organization in Chhattisgarh.
“Activists of banned outfit Gobra Dalam carried out the blast in support of OGWs of Badegobra and Chhotegobra villages,” the NIA statement said.
