The Pune Police on Wednesday said the killing of BJP MLA Yogesh Tilekar’s maternal uncle was a contract killing for which the assailants were paid ‘supari’ 5 lakh rupees. A former neighbor of the victim is one of the four suspects arrested by the Pune police so far and is believed to have ordered the murder, officials said.
55-year-old Satish Sadba Wagh, a resident of Manjari Budruk, was abducted at 6:20 a.m. on Monday morning when he went for a regular morning walk near his house. His body was found about 12 hours later on Monday evening in Sindavane village near Yawat, about 50 km from Pune city. Wagh, who was a farmer and also owned a small eatery, is survived by his wife Mohini and sons Omkar and Abhishek.
“We have so far arrested four suspects in this incident. Research has shown that this is contract killing. The former neighbor of the deceased gave Rs 5 lakh betel nut to the attacker. Among those arrested, the main suspect is a former neighbor. A personal grudge arose with the deceased. Other suspects are attackers. They are being interrogated. We are investigating the exact reason behind the personal grudge,” said a senior Pune city police official.
The investigation revealed that the tiger left the house around 6.15 am on Monday. A few minutes later he met Nilesh Sodnar from the same area who was also on a walk. Moments later, Sodnar heard the screams of the tiger as he was forced into an SUV by some men. They fled the scene with the tiger. Sodnar ran to inform the family about the incident and then the police was informed. The family did not ask for ransom.
