Two persons have been arrested for allegedly abducting and gang-raping a minor girl in a village in Tripura’s Unakoti district on Sunday, police said in Agartala on Wednesday.
“We received a complaint that the girl received a call on the phone asking her to come to the street in the evening. After she came out, two people who came on a motorcycle took her to a place and raped her. We registered a case against them at the local police station and arrested them,” the officer-in-charge of the local police station told the media.
Police have charged the accused, aged 35 and 25, with kidnapping, gang rape and common intent under the Indian Penal Code (BNS) and intrusive sexual assault under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act. They were produced in court on Tuesday.
