ADGP Rajkumar Pandian has been transferred from the post of ADGP CID (Crime and Railways) to the post of ADGP (Law and Order), a government communication announcing the transfer of senior police officers in Gujarat on Monday said. Pandian has replaced senior IPS officer Shamsher Singh, who held the post of DGP (law and order). The notification, however, did not say whether Pandian, who was holding additional charge as ADGP (SC/ST Cell), would continue with the additional charge or not. However, it is learned that Pandian is holding additional charge till now. The notification, specifically, stated that Shamsher Singh will continue to hold additional charge of Director, ACB, Ahmedabad. Recently, Pandian clashed with Congress MLA Jignesh Mevani after the latter alleged that Pandian misbehaved with him. Mevani also demanded that Pandian be removed from the post of ADGP (SC/ST Cell).

Faced with a downturn in the Surat diamond industry, Rajya Sabha MP and diamond merchant Govind Dholakia released a video to encourage people working in the industry, asking them to be patient. “Each and every business has its ups and downs. I have been in the industry for 60 years and have seen good market conditions and recessions. But it is true that this time the recession period has lasted longer. People have been very patient and it should continue. I hope and expect that in the short term, the industry will regain its lost momentum,” Dholakia said in the video.
