A day after a man was arrested for allegedly hurling a desi bomb in front of a club in Gurgaon’s Sector 29, police said he was a member of the Goldi Brar gang sent to threaten club owners.
A senior police officer said the accused, Sachin, from Uttar Pradesh’s Meerut, has been booked under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA). “The club owners received extortion calls. To threaten them further, the accused reached the spot and detonated two bombs. It was the same modus operandi used by the same terrorist module that blasted clubs in Chandigarh last month, ” said the officer. “We have detained the accused for one more week and will trace others involved in the crime,” said a senior officer.
Police said two homemade bombs were detonated outside the Human nightclub at 5:15 am on Tuesday.
According to the FIR in the case, the police said that after the accused hurled a “country bomb”, he told them that he was an associate of Goldie Brar “and they (club owners) did not listen to our owner Goldie Brar due to which they suffered the consequences”.
It is mentioned in the FIR that Barar, who is a part of Babbar Khalsa International, has been raising money for spreading terror and other terrorist activities through such activities. The police said that the accused had been raking for hours before committing the crime.
Another official said Sachin was paid more than Rs 1 lakh to commit the crime. “He was dropped at the spot on a stolen motorcycle by another accused,” he said.
The officer added that club owners received calls from gangsters but did not report them to the police; The police was informed after the two blasts in Chandigarh.
On November 26, two crude bombs were reported outside a lounge and bar in Chandigarh’s Sector 26. “After the Chandigarh incident, one of the owners of the club found himself receiving extortion calls,” he added. After that, the police increased security in Sector 29 market.
A preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect was allegedly intoxicated or “under the influence of drugs” at the time of the incident. “He had already thrown two bombs and was about to throw two more when the Gurgaon police caught him,” the official added.
The FIR was registered at the DLF police station under Sections 15, 16(1)(b), 18, 38, and 39 of the BNS, Explosives Act, Arms Act, and Section 111 of the UAPA.
Varun Suhag, manager of Human Night Club, said the accused was on the street and did not enter. “The club opens until 6am and the incident happened half an hour before we closed. The police went to the club and collected CCTV footage.
