The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Mumbai successfully completed the first round of campus placements this year with a total of 373 offers from 78 companies including 20 new recruits.
Tech-giant Microsoft has again offered the highest salary package with an annual salary of Rs 54 lakh – the company had offered Rs 51 lakh last year, when it first visited IIM Mumbai’s campus for placement.
While Accenture emerged as the largest recruiter at this stage with 41 offers; Some other companies that have offered more jobs are Blinkit (14), PwC US Advisory (10) and Wipro (9).
IIM Mumbai, erstwhile National Institute for Training in Industrial Engineering (NITIE), has started seeing a significant increase in its placements since last year after it got the prestigious IIM status.
The institute has seen a record 20 percent increase in the number of companies visiting for campus placements last year with several major names such as Microsoft among the first-time recruiters.
According to the institute’s placement office, the increase continued for the second year in a row and 20 of the 78 recruiters on campus were from new companies.
Institute Director Prof. Manoj Kumar Tiwari said, “IIM Mumbai is known in the industry for its unique technology-driven perspective of management education which has been encouraged in many businesses. Moreover, the recruiters are also considering the overall personality development of the competent students at IIM Mumbai.
Talking about new companies visiting IIM Mumbai for campus placements, Prof. Tiwari said, “While we are pioneers in supply-chain management, post-IIM status we are also attracting recruiters from the finance sector. Also, the reputation building program launched by Chairman of the Board of Governors, Shahi Kiran Shetty, has increased the Institute’s visibility among industry players.
As per the information shared by the placement office of IIM Mumbai regarding the average salary offered on campus; It was awarded to three separate brackets of students. The average salary for the top 10 percent of the batch is Rs 48 lakh per annum (LPA) and for the top 20 percent of the batch it is Rs 43.5 LPA. While the average salary package for the top 50 percent of the batch is Rs 35 LPA.
Professor Neeraj Pandey, Associate Dean, Placement and Branding at IIM Mumbai said, “Since we achieved the prestigious IIM status last year, the industry has shown great confidence in the institute and its students.”
IIM Mumbai has also seen success in summer placements. According to the information shared by the placement office of IIM Mumbai, a total of 128 companies participated for the summer placement and 425 students were offered an average stipend (for 2 months) of 3 lakhs. Coca Cola has offered the highest stipend with Rs 5 lakh for two months. Accenture Strategy & Consulting was the largest recruiter with 37 offers. While other companies offering more on-campus jobs include Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail Limited (14), Amazon (13) and ITC (11).
