A chilling encounter took place in Stellenbosch, South Africa, where a highly venomous cape cobra was found hiding under a bedroom pillow. Alarmed by the discovery, the homeowners contacted popular, experienced reptile wrangler Emile Rossouw to handle the dangerous situation.
The dramatic rescue captured on video has gone viral. The clip begins with Rossouw cautiously entering the bedroom. As he lifts the pillow, the deadly cobra appears, hissing in warning. Rossouw steps back for a moment, hands the camera to someone nearby and picks up a pillow to throw it aside before returning.
Snake tries to escape to another pillow, but Rossouw catches it. With the coil in his palm, the cobra is taken out of the room and carefully placed on the floor. Rossouw then prepares an empty container to protect the reptile. Sharing the gripping footage on Instagram, the handle @stellenbosch_snake_removals wrote, “The color of this snake is black to dark or light brown, beige, yellow or mottled with a black stripe around the neck of juveniles. The Cape Cobra is easily confused with the Mole Snake and the Black Spitting Cobra.”

Many users reacted to the video expressing their fear of snakes. “It might have a bed and a house, I’m moving back in with my mom,” wrote one user. Another user commented, “I hope you can tell me where to go for anti-venom in case of a bite in Cape Town.”
