Terming the rape and murder of a 19-year-old girl at Pardi in Valsad district as “very sad and painful”, Gujarat State Home Minister Harsh Sanghvi on Tuesday congratulated the staff of Valsad Police, Gujarat Railway Police and Lajpore Jail. A “brutal, brutal, merciless and inhumane serial killer” who allegedly committed multiple crimes, including eight, was killed in multiple states.

Sanghvi and DGP Vikas Sahay presented cash awards worth Rs 12.09 lakh to a total of 172 police officers and staff at a function held in Gandhinagar.

According to a statement, Sanghvi said, “This serial killer, who confessed to committing a total of six crimes in Karnataka, West Bengal, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Gujarat, has confessed to two more murders… apart from the eight crimes… this criminal. Other Has committed more than 13 crimes… If the Gujarat police had not caught this serial killer, it would have been difficult to tell where this killer had gone to commit more crimes.

He directed the Valsad police to take strict action against this “criminal” by filing a chargesheet within a short period of time and attaching strong evidence to ensure death sentence.

A dead body of a student was found in Valsad on November 14. On November 24, the police arrested the accused Rahul Jat.
