India vs Australia 3rd Test, tip-off XI: Hazlewood to replace Boland, Akash Deep likely and Washington to field Harshit Rana and R Ashwin | Cricket News

India vs Australia 3rd Test: India under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma will play Pat Cummins’ Australia at the Gabba in Brisbane in the third match of the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy five-match series. India won the first Test in Perth, Western Australia by 295 runs, while Australia won the second day-night Test in Adelaide by 10 wickets.

Here are some of the changes both teams could make at the Gabba after the series ended 1-1.

Josh Hazlewood for Scott Boland

Australian captain Pat Cummins has made it clear that Josh Hazlewood will return to the playing XI and replace Scott Boland. Hazlewood recovered from injury on Friday and will join Pat Cummins and Mitchell Starc for the third Test against India in Brisbane. Hazlewood missed the pink-ball Test with a side strain. Scott Boland, who replaced Hazlewood, took five wickets in the match and played an important role in Australia’s victory.

Akash Deep for Harshit Rana

The nets don’t always provide a definitive signal, but based on proceedings it looks like Akash Deep could play ahead of Harshit Rana. Akash Deep bowled more than Harshit Rana and batted less, assistant coach Ryan ten Doschet said whenever the Bengal pacer faced a spinner. With Brisbane set to help the pacers, India could also go with a four-pronged pace attack.

Washington Sundar for Ravichandran Ashwin

All-rounder Washington Sundar, one of the heroes of India’s victory at the Gabba in 2021, is likely to replace veteran spinner R Ashwin in India’s third Test. Washington played the Perth Test ahead of R Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja. The 25-year-old player scored an important 29 runs in the second innings and also took two important wickets. Washington made his debut on the same field three years ago. The southpaw has scored 62 and 22 runs in Tests and has taken four wickets with the ball.
