Pune city police have arrested three people, including a hotelier, for firing at an ambulance of a de-addiction center near a beer bar on Bakori Road in Kesand on Thursday night.
According to the police, the arrested are 32-year-old Vishal Ramdas Kolte of Bakori, 42-year-old Sandeep Kailas Hargude of Kesanand and 35-year-old Amol Rajaram Hargude.
35-year-old Sudhakar Kande of Katraj filed a First Information Report (FIR) at the Wagholi police station.
The police said that the three arrested were friends and were drinking at Aryan Beer Bar on Bakori Road on Thursday night. Sandeep Hargude’s wife called an ambulance to take him to the Latmukti Kendra in Loni Kalbhor.
Accordingly, the complainant Kanade along with his colleagues reached the spot in an ambulance at around 9 pm to take Sandeep to the de-addiction center. However, Sandeep protested and called his friends Kolte and Amol Hargude.
The police said that the three persons got angry and attacked the ambulance. They allegedly threw stones at the ambulance. Colte reportedly fired two shots from his revolver during the incident. Although no one was injured by the bullet, the police said that the ambulance was damaged by the stone.
After receiving the news, the police team reached the spot and is investigating. The police have arrested three accused under Sections 109, 324 (4), 49, 4 (5) of the Indian Judicial Code (BNS) and Sections of the Indian Arms Act.
Investigating Officer Deputy Inspector of Police Vaijnath Kedar said, “The accused Kolte is involved in hotel and land business. He was arrested in a criminal case in the past but was acquitted by the court. In the investigation, it has been revealed that he has a license to carry a revolver. All the accused were drinking when the incident happened. Further investigation is ongoing.”
